Who We Are

PWC is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1980 and New York is the founding chapter! Established by eight women who decided that if they banded together, they could support each other in advancing their careers and businesses. This vision is at the core of what we do by actively engaging our members through committees that are run by members. The committees are structured to provide leadership opportunities while pursuing the mission of the organization. Men are welcome and key to what we do because we know, together we are better.

Scholarship Recipient Spotlight

Arpita Saha

Columbia University

Arpita has always been interested in infrastructure and the built environment, particularly in how major structures can continue to be built sustainably in the future. This interest led her to civil engineering, a field that combines design, construction, and sustainability—an intersection she greatly appreciates. Arpita's favorite aspect of civil engineering is the opportunity to engage in meaningful internships where her projects have tangible impacts on society and benefit her local community. She has had the chance to work on the design of a NYC esplanade, transportation projects involving bridges and train stations, and even assist with a bridge’s embodied carbon calculation.
